Jeroen studies the behaviour and ecology of animals and has a special interest in free-living top predators in the marine environment. Over the years, he has been involved in various projects on different species of seabirds and sea mammals in different areas of the world (see Projects, under construction).

He earned his PhD-degree at the Faculty Mathematics and Natural Sciences of University of Groningen in 2010. His thesis is called “Breeding ecology of Antarctic petrels and Southern fulmars in coastal Antarctica”.

At the moment, Jeroen is working at the Naturalis Biodiversity Center (Leiden, The Netherlands).
